Optus One

Optus One has launched today!

It's a plan unlike anything else with one-to-one care, dedicated support, network priority and a massive 500GB of data.

Re: Optus One

After spending $119 on a mobile plan they still charge $10 per GB excess data? Optus have some great new products and plans but this $10 excess data charge is old school thinking.

Re: Optus One

Lets Imagine a 10% data overrun (or 50Gb). Not hard to do given the size and speed of data transfers these days. Customers have been paying around 24c per Gb as expected. This jumps to $10 per Gb. Customers end up paying a 420% penalty for 10% more data than their monthly allowance. The problem is only getting worse as plans sizes increase ten fold but the penalty per Gb has remained stuck at $10 for years.

Re: Optus One

The One Plan itself does offer a total care package at a premium price. We we're discussing in another thread how the bigger Telcos seemingly want to take a weakness (variable customer service) and turn it into a positive by charging a premium for good customer service. Bit like economy and business class on the plane. Unlike business class I'm not sure if the value added will appeal enough to those wealthy enough to afford it.

Subscription services are no doubt all chosen and subscribed by them already and why lock yourself into the ones Optus offers? 500Gb of data (1000Gb on 5G) seems more than most would need. Perhaps Optus are looking to have people use it for Home Broadband for the household?

$90 a month gets you everything the same except only 150Gb of local data and 4Gb of roaming data. Is the extra $30 worth it for a bit more roaming and better support? I guess that is what Optus will find out.

Hopefully a winner for Optus.
