Network unlock

I bought an Optus x smart recently for the sole purpose of unlocking and using it with a different network. Now I'm unable to unlock it. Went through the usual hooves: 1. Got an unlock code from the optus website which doesn't work. 2. Went to an Optus store who in turn called an Optus customer service and they asked us to enter the same code which didn't work. The customer service guy, said not to try the code again as it is not valid and won't work. He promised to get the code from Alcatel, who are the phone manufacturers and call me back in a week which was a month ago. My question is, why is it so hard to get something as simple as unlocking a phone gets so complicated. Optus, please help

I'm having a similar issue. We have an Alcatel PIXI 4 phone that was bought outright a year ago to marry up with an Optus post-paid 12mth SIM.

Since we have moved and Optus does not serve our area, trying to get an unlock code for the phone is like asking for the KFC secret spices recipe.

I would like to continue using the phone and would PLEASE like someone to help me out with the unlock code.

Hi there guys,

 

I have a similar issue with LG-D320,  I have gone through the Optus process of paying for the IMEI unlock code.  I have unlocked the phone however when I put a aldimobile (use telstra network) sim in the phone it does not connect to the telstra network.  I have put this same aldimobile sim to another phone of mind and it works fine.   

 

Can someone help me 😞

When you'd received the NUC, you'd followed the steps outlined below?

 

  1. Switch your handset off and disconnect it from any power supply 

  2. Insert a Non-Optus SIM into your handsets

  3. Restart your handset

  4. When prompted, enter your network unlock code into the handset (or its companion/connection software on your computer)

  5. Switch your handset off, then on again (or disconnect and reconnect it)

You could try manually select the Telstra Network via the Network setting menu on the handset.

 

  1. Select Apps.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Tethering & networks.
  4. Scroll to and select Mobile networks.
  5. Select Access point names.
  6. Select the Menu button.
  7. Select Reset to default.

Does the Aldi mobile APN show up?

Hi Dan_C,

 

There is actually no APNs that show up on that screen.

 

When i restart the phone it does look like it is connected, but after about 10sec it will then disconnect from the network.

 

Do you think it might be an issue with Aldimobile end?

Hmm, it could. I'd expect that if we hadn't successfully unlocked the handset then you'd be prompted to enter the NUC upon booting up the handset. You don't have another SIM you can try? A family or friends SIM from any other provider?
