My mobile plan

Why is my mobile plan getting 3G instead of 4G?  I thought when I signed up it is a 4G plan.

What type of mobile phone do you have?

How do you know you're only connecting to 3G?

Is the area you're in 4G capable?

Optus don't restrict plans to 3G. They only drop to 3G for one of two reasons:

1) Their is no 4G in your area (unlikely unless your very remote)
2) You've set the phone to 3G only mode (my guess, so check the settings)
