Mobile data plan

Hi, sorry I'm kind of lost when it comes to mobile tech, just want to ask and get your advice here.

 

For the Optus mobile broadband data plan, I don't have to install the SIM card to any device right? As I don't have a dongle, so Optus shop has given me the new mobile data SIM card but told me the data will be added to my mobile phone data so I don't have to physically install the new data SIM card. Can anyone confirm this is correct and how data pool works?

Hi there,

 

Yeah maybe a little confusion but hopefully we can clear things up.

 

A "data share" sim is not the same as "Mobile Broadband data" plan/sim. It's just that, a sim all be it a "data only" one that's linked to your mobile phone account. You don't need to plug the sim into anything if it's not required. Still and it seems you're aware, if you do any data used would be drawn from your mobile phone accounts data allocation/allowance.

 

If by chance there's further confusion and you've managed to get yourself on a Mobile Broadband plan then that's different and more concerning predicament as I'd assume you have no intention being on such a plan so further correspondence with Optus directly may be required.
