Mobile Phone number cancelled while Overseas

My Mobile phone number was cancelled earlier today which I was surprised by, as no one from Optus had gotten in touch with me via email to indicate that this was likely to happen. I am currently located in London but I will be back in Australia from October and I wish for my service to be restored.

Please advise what steps I should take, as the messaging in the Optus app has not been working.

Re: Mobile Phone number cancelled while Overseas

Optus generally don't inform customers of more suitable plans or upcoming disconnections. You do need to keep your account active (you can't just stop paying). Generally numbers will be lost about 6 months after the last active period expires.

You need to contact Optus via Facebook or Twitter to get the number sorted. Then I would suggest you 'park' your number in a long term prepaid. Port your number online to Amaysim which has a $10 a year plan. Do check though about getting the new SIM card while overseas.
