Lost Brand New Phone - No Insurance

What a great end to my year!

I recently lost my new Samsung note 9 which 2 months ago i got on a plan. Of course the one time i don't get insurance this happens.

What are my options? It's gunna be one hefty payout....

Bugger! I guess you could pay out your contract and start again or get a replacement sim and buy an outright cheapy from the post office. If you speak with billing and accounts on the live chat below they will give you the payout amount.

If you haven't already done so you might want to report your phone lost as well.

Re: Lost Brand New Phone - No Insurance

Yep, its likely a fairly costly mistake. However its not a disaster. I assume it wasn't on lease? (that would be a disaster)

1) Get a pay out quote from Optus. You're up for paying for the phone and any subsidy Optus had on it  so probably at least $1000

2) As @Yeldarb says grab a cheapie. Plenty of decent sub $200 phones that get the job done.

3) Drop back to say the Note 8 Refurbished and pay $500 or so (IMO Note 8 v Note 9 is a 10% difference in most areas anyway)

But anyway you slice it you will have to do penence.

Note if you have home insurance its often a possibility to use that to cover your phone (for next time).
