Illegal activity - money stolen by illegal Winneroo service with Optus' help

AKK

Soooo.... it's been over a week since the Winneroo crooks stole my money through the Optus network.

So far the only response from Optus to its valued customer (i've been with them for well over a decade), is that they are investigating.

Not here's your money back, sorry about that illegal activity.

Not we're sorry you were the victim of crime on our network.

Nothing. Just a bill. Which was due this week. And still has $40 of crooked illegal charges on it.

Maybe I should report the theft to the police Optus? Then will you act??

Unfortunately the theft is legal. Optus don't just help the scammers, they are a major shareholder in the proceeds.

That said, if you've made a complaint you'll get your money back shortly. Get Optus to set your Monthly Premium SMS spend to $0. Ask them to refute the charges (sounds like you've done that) and buy your next bill you'll get the money recedited.
