I cancelled my Optus mobile and still received a bill the next month

Dear Staff, My account *hidden* received an email implying that I have $111.93 bill to pay due on 26/02/2020. I have called optus on 20/01/2020, asking to stop my mobile service for good as my student visa would expire soon and I am leaving Australia on 23/01/2020. Optus staff helped me to cancel the service at that time. I am not in Australia now and I don’t know why I need to pay this much for February. Please help me to find out what’s going on here, thank you!

Re: Problem with payment

This is a public forum Luya and the good folk here don't have access to billing information. Did you not ask what the final amount would be when you cancelled your service? If your bill doesn't tell you what you are paying for then you will need to speak with Optus. Possibly the new chat / messaging system would be the best way of getting in touch with them given you are no longer in Australia.

Re: Problem with payment

Hi there Luya,

Have you checked the dates on the bill? It's likely it's a final pro-rated bill for the period in January when your service was still connected.

Otherwise as Yeldarb has mentioned you will need to contact Optus directly if you have a bill dispute.
