How to deactivate voicemail when Optus refuses to deactivate

Ric196454

How do I turn off voicemail when Optus refuses to do it. I've tried calling 159 and that is now a pre recorded answer machine guiding to the MyOptus app. I've tried logging into my Account, and again, no luck there either. The settings are broken and forever experiencing technical issues. I've tried old school from the handset retutrnng an error, not supported by Optus.

Anything else I'm missing or do I wait for the plan to expire and simply move to a provider who will support the end user?

Hey Ric196454,

You can turn off voicemail on your Optus mobile the following ways:

  1. From your Mobile, dial 1509 (free call)
  2. Select the 'voicemail' option
  3. Choose the 'deactivate' option

Or if you're using a Postpaid mobile service:

  1. Use the Optus SMS Menu, by texting the number 8 (eight) to 9999
  2. Reply with the number 1 (one)
  3. Follow the remaining prompts

I tried calling 1509 with no success. I ended up chat online in my account and resolved the issue. Now everything is working perfectly.
