Your phone lease is ending soon. Optus is no longer offering new leasing plans, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Important information for our customers in Victoria:
The Victorian government has eased Stage 4 lock down restrictions in Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, allowing our Optus retail stores to reopen from 2nd November. For customers that have recently completed their leasing plan, you’ll be contacted with more information about your leased device return options.
1. You can return the phone in good working order to an Optus store. If the phone isn’t in good working order, you’ll be required to pay a damage fee up to $499.
2. You can make an offer to buy the phone at the current fair market value (which Optus will advise at the time)
How long do I have to decide?
Don’t worry, you have a bit of time to decide what to do with your phone. If you started your leasing plan between 5th May and 3rd December 2017 you have 6 months to return or buy out your phone.
Alternatively: If you started your leasing plan after 4th December 2017 you have 2 months to return or buy out your phone.
You will be required to continue paying monthly device and plan fees for any additional available months beyond the minimum term of your contract.
You can find the exact end date of your contract and available additional months on the SMS we sent you. If you’re unsure, you can call us on 1800 702 060 or message us in the app.
What If I don't return my device?
If the phone is not returned after the minimum term of your contract has finished and any permitted additional available months have lapsed, a non-return fee will be charged. The non-return fee will be the fair market value of your phone. Once the non-return fee is paid, you will own the phone. Deciding what to do next
When you’re ready, the best way to buy out or return your phone is to head in-store and speak to one of our team members in person. They’ll be able to advise the best option for you.
