Cancellation of sim card and reissue to another person

Dear Sir / Madam ,

                                 On Tuesday the 13th of July my mobile sim card was cancelled by Optus and reissued to another person without my permission with not due diligence on shown by the Optus team.

 I had spent over two hours trying to contact Optus and was told my sim had been cancelled and reissued to another person .

What is going on please ?

Thank you for getting in touch and raising this issue with us. 


Was this a prepaid service? If so and it had been without a recharge for some time, it's possible the service was deactivated from the network. 


This is normal process with un-recharged prepaid services. However there are notifications generally sent beforehand, advising of the time frames left.


When a service is cancelled, the number is returned to the network and provided to new connections. 


As we are unable to collect/look up your service information via Yes Crowd, we recommend messaging us via the My Optus App. The team is available 24/7 and are ready to assist customers as quickly as possible.
