Hm, unless something has changed in terms of functionality, I've always used the following method:

USING YOUR MOBILE
Use Optus SMS Menu: Text 'MENU' to 9999 and follow the prompts
There's also our Live Chat team, they'll be able to put through the change in a matter of minutes.
Keep in mind - Any unused credit will not roll over onto the next plan
