Ahh yes, unfortunately there is an inherent misunderstanding of how the plans work by Optus staff. I was told the same thing (discount would apply from second month), only to find it wasn't. Dissappointing that staff will don't know the answer will do whatever they can to reassure you, instead of trying to find the solution. Apparently the whole second month plan discount thing was on legacy plans, but lots of staff still think this applies to new plans so hand out misinformation all the time.
That's just stupid that you were told to go back in store. Hopefully staff in there aren't as hopeless as well. Good luck!
Very frustrating, especially when I actually went back to the store to check why it hadn’t updated & was given a dismissive ‘she’ll be right!’ reply and was actually told to ring billing!
