I was forced to update the firmware in my Optus AC800S a few days ago and since then my ranger extender can’t see the 2.4Ghz wifi.
I can connect directly to the AC800 using 2.4 or 5Ghz, but the ranger extender (that’s been working with it happily for many months) can only connect on 5Ghz.
I’ve done restarts on both devices, factory reset the ranger extender (Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 EX7000), nothing seems to work.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Figured it out....
The AC800S when set to auto channel on 2.4Ghz can use channel 12 - found this out using iOS Airport Utility App.
The Netgear EX7000 can’t see channel 12, so forcing the channel to 1, 6 or 11 made it visible again
Thanks for your sharing. Just try to find the 2.4GHz for my AC800S Optus, you gave the answer 🙂
