Hey 3burns2 - I don't think those modems should be locked to our Network, there may be some settings you'd need to change if using another providers SIM but I don't believe they are locked to our Network.
Thx for the quick reply and link @AlexRH. It will cost $25 to unlock my Huawei E5251 WiFi modem. As I only purchased it for $19 (on sale) and it’s only 3G capable this seems a bit steep for me - I was crossing my fingers that it would be free 😜 but alas, no.
I have a Huawei Model E5251s-2.
The case says OPTUS Yes.
It has not been used for a while.
I am considering using it in the United States (possibly on AT&T network).
I don't recall if it was unlocked earlier.
How do I tell if it is unlocked?
Hi @HotSpringSoaker , I'm looking for same info. Have you booted it up and connected a computer to it? That gives a fair bit of info I'd forgotten. I hadn't used mine for about 4 years.
If anyone knows, is it possible to open this up and replace the sim? I'd like to put in a 4G one since the 3G network will be shutting down eventually.
