The Optus @Home app is a simple solution for modem setup and diagnosing potential WiFi network issues. The Optus @Home app collects information such as WiFi signal strength, speed, latency issues which you can use to optimise your home network. You’ll be able to see how your network is performing against popular websites/online activities.
In this article, we'll show how to make the most of the The Optus @Home app
First, you’ll want to make sure that your device is connected to your WiFi modem. Your home screen will be populated with the details below:
Your download & upload speed measured in Mbps
The make and model of your modem and number of devices connected to your WiFi Network
How your home network is performing certain activities and the performance of your connection against popular websites
Remotely restart your modem and change your WiFi Network name and password
You’ll need to find your modem username and password (this is separate to your WiFi password). This can be found labelled on the sticker on the bottom or back of your modem (depending on the model).
Your modem IP address and WiFi Network details are shown on the modem settings screen. If you have a Dual Band modem, you’ll be able to see the 5GHz & 2.4GHz SSID (WiFi network name). You’ll also have the option to remotely restart your modem
Tap on the WiFi Network that you’d like to change. From this screen, you can customise your WiFi Network name (SSID) & Password
Locate 5G towers and set up your 5G Home Broadband service
You can use the The Optus @home app to find your closest 5G Mobile tower and the direction of the 5G signal.
Tap Get started to begin
Enter your service address in the address field. The map will display the closest Optus 5G Mobile towers to your address. You’ll be able to see the exact distance the tower lies from your address and the direction of the 5G signal. Rotate your device to align with the direction of the 5G signal. Your device will vibrate once it’s found the direction of the the 5G signal
Try and position your modem to align with the direction of the 5G Signal. You can then follow the step-by-step modem installation guide to help complete the installation of your 5G Home Broadband service
