VOIP

Hi there,
Can someone please explain to me in simple terms what I need to have my home phone connected through my optus-supplied router? I was supplied a new home number when I re-signed, but haven't connected it yet.
- Do I need to buy a specific type on phone?
- Once it is plugged in to the modem, what do I need to do?
- Does the useage just come out of my home broadband?

Thanks a million for any help.
Mick

Re: VOIP

You should be able to plug any standard phone into your phone port in the optus router.

Assuming you have internet working then the phone should start working.

If you still don't get a dial tone then contact Optus and they should be able to help.

Optus plans are generally unlimited. But for those that aren't phone calls might account for 1% of a monthly limit (There's more data in a single Netflix episode than there is in a month of nonstop talking on the phone).

Regards
