Using Mobile data Overseas

I'm currently on holidays in New Zealand. My Ipad has an Optus prepaid mobile data sim card in it which cost $130 for 1 year.

I went into the Maddington (W.A.) Optus store, prior to going on holidays & the Rep in the store said that I didn't need to do anything as I would get coverage. Well, guess what I don't. This is my first overseas. Can someone please advise me on what to do & the easiest option?

Re: Using Mobile data Overseas

Hi there,

Although it should work maybe you could try a local data sim from a main carrier?

Cheers Dave

Re: Using Mobile data Overseas

Have you turned on global roaming?

As mentioned though this can get VERY expensive.

Perhaps consider a Optus Travel Pack?

Thank you. I think I might have to purchase a other sim card. 😉

Re: Using Mobile data Overseas

Hey Peter, thank you for your advice. I've tried getting in contact with Optus but it's literally impossible as I now have a  cheap vodafone sim in my phone & I can't get internet on my Ipad. 😊

Re: Using Mobile data Overseas

Thanks heaps for that Dave. Yes, I ended up getting a sim from a local carrier in NZ for my mobile and I hot spotted that with my Ipad. It was a bit of a bother but it worked. I'm back home now and enjoying the luxury of having my optus back.  Kind regards Sandra  🙂
