I'm currently on holidays in New Zealand. My Ipad has an Optus prepaid mobile data sim card in it which cost $130 for 1 year.
I went into the Maddington (W.A.) Optus store, prior to going on holidays & the Rep in the store said that I didn't need to do anything as I would get coverage. Well, guess what I don't. This is my first overseas. Can someone please advise me on what to do & the easiest option?

Hi there,
Although it should work maybe you could try a local data sim from a main carrier?
Have you turned on global roaming?
As mentioned though this can get VERY expensive.
Perhaps consider a Optus Travel Pack?

Peter Gillespie
Thank you. I think I might have to purchase a other sim card. ๐
Hey Peter, thank you for your advice. I've tried getting in contact with Optus but it's literally impossible as I now have a cheap vodafone sim in my phone & I can't get internet on my Ipad. ๐
I am really sorry you've had trouble contacting us @SanB, you can chat with our Customer Service team here to confirm if roaming is activated. You can also read about roaming and Optus Travel here. Hope you're enjoying your trip
Thanks heaps for that Dave. Yes, I ended up getting a sim from a local carrier in NZ for my mobile and I hot spotted that with my Ipad. It was a bit of a bother but it worked. I'm back home now and enjoying the luxury of having my optus back. Kind regards Sandra ๐
