Turning Off Message/Answering Service for Fixed Line Phone

all of a sudden i have a message from optus saying please leave a message on my landline, when i contacted them and asked for it be removed, the phone now rings 5 times and says this service is unavailable, i want my own answering machine to pick up my calls, optus tells me to call my phone supplier (uniden) that is wrong, the message service i or others receive is on my phone line, not my service, the latest answer is to send me optus premium why cant i just get this service turned off - no message unless my home answering machine answers it, seriously had enough of getting no where and not getting messages from medical specialists i am waiting to hear from

Try #78 to disable the diversion to Voicemail. It probably came on when you NBN Migrated or changed plans to one that now includes their voicemail product.

 

Don't call Uniden because it's not Uniden's fault that the Optus staff are giving bad info...

Once you've disabled the diversion, try calling your phone and see if your preferred method answers.

I do remember that there was an issue with optional free add-on's being reenabled whenever the customer powered the modem off.

 

I'm not sure if that was for a specific type of NBN service, or VOIP as a whole. I'm fairly certain that the issue was addressed in a recent firmware update, but I'll need to double check.

This problem affected us too. We have a Unidentifiable handset with answering machine which was working fine. Recently the service was ‘overridden’ by the Optus call message option without warning. I contacted Optus and was given instructions on how to set up the Optus service which was not what I wanted. We wanted restoration of our own Unidentifiable call answering. Coincidentally We’re due to be connected to NBN next month. I searched yescrowd and discovered your solution. Followed your instructions and I was able to disable the Optus voicemail and reset uniden service. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
