Told we can't port number

Have just tried to setup an Optus account with my parents, who are moving house, and want to get optus for home phone and internet (currently with Spintel). when we tried to port thier current number we were told it can't be ported.

They have been in the same house for over 50 years, and have a lot of people who know thier phone number. To make the move a little less traumatic, we would like to keep the same number so they don't have to inform all of thier friends, family, and associates (along wiith all the govt depts etc that they deal with) of a new number.

Why would we not be able to port the phone number from Spintel to Optus?

can anyone help with this please?

You might want to try this Porting Authority form

Good Luck (You'll need it)

Re: Told we can't port number

@mattcole42,  it's a tough one. You can't actually  port numbers between addresses if they're serviced by a different exchange.

FNNs are tied to the exchange they are allocated to, and cannot be moved between exchanges.
