Hello
We have just been connected to the NBN and have the Sagemcom Modem. The cordless landline phone plugged into Phone 1 port is working OK however I'd like to plug in our old fixed landline phone as well and was hoping I could use Phone 2 port. However it just gives an engaged signal. Is there anything I can do to use both Phone ports (for the same landline phone number)? Sorry for my ignorance.
Solved! Solved: Go to Solution.
I finally got through to Optus Web Chat, who have answered the question:
"With NBN service, you'll be able to have 2 number's active. The other port will only work if you will get an additional phone number."
You're actually looking for an adapter like this. The Sagemcom modem can handle two seperate phone lines, whereas you just want to split line 1.
Thanks for that, it is good to know we have that option.
We have two phones different providers 1 x Optus, 1 x Telstra - can we plug both phones into the Sagemcom modem? We have a single NBN connection.
i have a sagemcom modem but am unable to connect my extra phone on the back of the modem?? *moderated*
Hey @Jolyn, as mentioned above, you would need to purchase a splitter for multiple handsets
Thanks for the help - I also tried to plug a second phone in and also got the engaged signal....
I treid using asplitter but it didn't make a good connection and I had "crackling noise" problems on the phone and internet dropouts
I solved this by soldering 2 phone cables together to make a good connection.
Well that's one way to go out about it @Bernard99
Thanks for the update 🙂 If something else comes up, give us a shout.
