We have Optus NBN broadband with an Optus supplied Sagemcom 5366TN Modem. This Modem has provision for 2 phone lines via 2 x FXS portals. Only one of these gives us an external phone line.
We have, and need, 2 phones lines. One for a portable Uniden system with 3 x portable hand sets and a base station which gives us phone coverage throughout our home. Unfortunately, we are having to use these units as our main phone at the moment due to only one FXS portal being available, and the phone line quality with this system is very poor, but this system (uniden portable phones) is needed to give us phone accesss house wide and over 2 levels. The other phone needed, that we used in conjunction on the old DSL system very successfully, is a Uniden desk phone that has fantastic sound qualities when it was used both with the old DSL system and also as well with the Sagemcom 5366TN Modem.
Unfortunately, we can't use both given that only one of the FXS portals gives us an outside phone line. Question is, if the Sagemcom 5366TN Modem has 2 x FXS portals, why can't we get dual phones working with this system?
The 2 FXS ports are for separate phone lines, they are not intended to be used at the same time with the same phone number.
I suggest contacting Optus directly and seeing if its possible to activate the second port with the same phone number.
