Safer Internet Day: how do you protect your kids online?

Today is Safer Internet Day (SID), an annual global event that promotes safe, responsible and positive behaviour in the digital world. This year's theme 'Together for a better internet’ encourages individuals to create a better internet by developing four, critical skills: Respect, Responsibility, Reasoning and Resilience.

@Kara_YC is currently working on a blog post about protecting children in the digital world and we’d love to include your tips and tricks.
Parents of Yes Crowd: what are your strategies for protecting your kids online? Do you use any parental control apps? Tell us in the comments below.

You can also read more about Optus’ support for Safer Internet Day here.

Filters - they dont really work - sure they get most - but websites still slip through.

Filters can even block legitimate sites used for work/school purposes (have seen it myself at Work blocking a fed gov dept website)

Having the device in an open area as part of the house rules may help with the issue - its not really peer pressure, but more of a 1984 vibe of your being watched...ahhh yeah could go a bit far with that side.

Education of the young and old - in regards to online predators and "love" scams is key.
