Hey guys, been getting bad ping spikes over the last few weeks during peak hours (usually starts around 6PM, lasts until about midnight) in the Padstow area.
Most of my ping tests look like this:

There seems to be ping issues all along the chain and each hop gives varying pings. This suggests to me that it is a local problem as the issues start right at the beginning of the chain.
Have taken routers and other devices out of the equation and still no joy. Can't imagine this is anything to do at my end as it only happens during peak times. Other times my ping is fine. Speeds are also fine on peak or off and it doesn't affect browsing or videos etc. What it does affect is gaming which is pretty much impossible during peak times.
Anyone else experiencing these issues or have an idea of why this is happening? Thanks in advance.
Hi @Drunk_Chicken, latency can be a symptom of packet loss (due to the need to re-transmit packets) which can be a result of congestion. As you mentioned that you are seeing this during the busy period, my guess is that the latency variation are due to congestion. I would expect you to see an improvement soon when Optus either upgrades the bandwidth into the CVC or Optus re-arranges the users across multiple CVCs
