Optus email and VPN

Hi All

 

I recently installed a VPN (private Internet Access) on my mac. I use the Outlook client for email.

 

Since installing the VPN, I can still receive emails OK but outgoing emails fail. i need to disconnect from VPN and resend.

 

using mail.optusnet.com.au and receiving on port 110 and sending on port 25.

 

Any advice on settings please?

Try using authentication with outgoing mail

Yes thanks  - I should have added to my original post that I had tried that as well..... I could see it making two connections to Optus - but it still failed on sending 😞

Have you checked your IP to see where the VPN is routing? If its outside Australia I don't think it will ever work.

I have tried Melbourne and Sydney.

 

And I have called VPN supplier and they confirmed mail.optusnet.com was on their whitelist

I can appreciate the VPN provider has whitelisted Optus but it's Optus that needs to allow the VPN provider I would say. The link below might be an option.
