We have an Optus bundle with internet, phone and tv. Our neighbour is building a bigger house and wants to remove the power cables that go overhead from our home to a pole, right across their land. Can anyone tell me how long it will take for them to sort this out? Will we be without our services for a long period of time? They also want to remove our power cable, so we will be without electricity for a period of time too. Any info would be great.
The power and Optus cables will then go underground.
Can we say No?

That sounds like a tricky situation Rozy You can speak with our Cable Customer Care team about booking a tech to move your lead-in cables on 133937 or chat here.. Would there be any other way for these cables to get into your property? You can read through our underground installation requirements here.
If these cables are going over their property then they may have a claim over them. You'll need to speak with your power company or council about other cables.

Thanks for you reply. We talked to the neighbour. He is willing to pay for the whole thing. He wants our cables out of his way as he will be looking at them when he builds up. The cable has to go through our land and not his, so we will have separate trenches dug up for our cables. He wanted them all done together but that is not possible, and not advisable.

Thanks for the update. Hope you can get this sorted out with the minimum of disruption. Get your builder to look over the underground requirements and conduit info so it's all ready when Optus tech goes out to move cables.
