Optus Cable - Swapping Out the Sagemcom Wireless Router

cfgt

I've been trying to change out the Sagemcom router that's been provided as I have a much beefier wireless router already - however, while my router can successfully connect to the Internet, it appears that the Internet is throttled to 15Mbps.

However, when I'm using the provided router I can get close to 50Mbps.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I am using edimax off their router it’s same speed either way.

I don’t think you will find the hidden Optus settings because a lot is done at far end.

I have shelved the idea of byo as I could not find anyone at their help desk with high technical knowledge.

Seems they provide Broadcom plug and play modems with no access to the settings that make the serious difference.

You may have to use their Ethernet lan or wan ports.

Or find a top techno type on their help desk, ask for Dan!

Indeed - it sounds like I'll need to go the DMZ route, which is definitely less than ideal.

Just adding a possible solution here in case anyone else runs into it.

It wasn't Optus' settings, it was mine. (I'm am idiot.)

My router was set to QoS for a bandwidth of 18Mbps (which is what I had back on ADSL2), as such, it was throttling any access to the internet down to this speed. I've set it back to the expected speeds from Optus Cable (100Mbps) and I can now hit 100Mbps very reliably.
