Number of rings on landline

Hi there,

i have recently changed over from cable to NBN and ever since, my landline only rings 3 times before going to voicemail. How can I increase this as we can't always make it to the phone on time?

Re: Number of rings on landline

Hi @KayleenMarie

Does your phone have a menu ?

On my phone I can increase the number of rings before going to voicemail in the menu under "Answering setup", if not , contact Optus on 1300 300 427 or open a chat with them in "MyAccount" on Optus web page and ask them to change that.

Also beware that if in your plan you get charged for calling 13/1300 numbers, you will be charged for retreiving your voicemail from your home phone.

Re: Number of rings on landline

You can get it fixed up using that number by selecting Technical Support but be aware that, if you are on the NBN, you will be asked to reboot your modem, which is clearly unecessary for this issue, so just ignore that and hang on for 5-10 seconds when you will be offered more options including speaking to a human! Pity they don't just do that up front.

My landline only rings 5 times and I cannot get to the phone in time to take the call. Can you make it ring longer please?

Hey peterur,

From our help and support page: Voicemail Troubleshooting: Fixed Phone

Voicemail is picking up calls too quickly / slowly

You have 2 ring time options with Fixed Phone voicemail. 6 rings (about 15 sec) or 8 rings about 25 sec. Call us on 13 39 37 to have your setting changed.
