Netgear CM500V Modem

Dear Optus Crowd

I have the OPTUS supplied Netgear CM500V modem and notice it only runs 8x4 bonding.  That said, according to Netgear the specs for it's modem says it has 16x4 Channel Bonding enabling 680 Mbps‡ download.  Is there a reason for the reduced number of downstream channels, versus the stated 16 by Netgear?

Re: Netgear CM500V Modem

my guess is 8x4 boanding would give you upto 340Mbps and not sure if optus cable equipement for residential is setup to go beyond 8 downstream and x4 upstream bonding. For residental cable internet I believe the highest plan is 100Mbps which the 8x4 can easily handle
