I've had the FTTN NBN (dis)service for over a year now and even though I get 20MB/5MB versus 9MB/2MB I used to get from my old ADLS2+ service, the dropouts occur 2-3 times a day lasting from 3-10 minutes at a time. The old ADSL2+ almost never dropped out.
I've contacted Optus, NBN, and even my local federal member and they all sidestep the issue blaming old telephone wires in the street which it seems no one wants to own! Surely this is a regualr fault that someone has investigated previoulsy?
I live in the 6th biggest city in Australia (i.e. Newcastle NSW for trivia buffs), and I wonder when we are going to get a proper high speed reliable service?
Not a question really, but frustrated venting as I'm trying to run a small business (which the governemtn is supposed to be helping), and reliability of the service is a must.
Super disappointing hey! If it is "old telephone lines" as they claim, that's 100% on the NBN now. They own them after aquiring them from Telstra so they need to fix it. That said, Optus is your RSP so they should be reporting the issue to NBN to then get fixed. No help whatsoever sorry because I'm not sure you'll get it fixed any time soon
Really sorry to hear that this has been your experience @Whynow 😞 Certainly not one we want you to have. I may need to refer you to tech support on 131344, however I'll give it a go. Does your internet run slow during the evenings or all throughout the day?
