Modem

Have Optus supplies net gear modem that has no power to it. Two lights were on I followed stepa

to restart and it’s dead 

diagnostics saying faulty adapter.

has pressing the factory reset completely diaabled it?

showing no power to

modem at all

Factory reset is a standard function to just clear any user settings.

 

At a minimum you should get a power light. Sounds like you need to request a replacement.
