Modem Warm Reset 5 times a day

Why does my modem warm reset (automatically reboot) 4 to 5 times a day?

Hi,

Please remove most of this info. Some of it is personal details (public IP addresses) and could be used to hack you.
Have you done a factory reset?
If your modem is resetting that much it is likely faulty. Request a replacement.

I can't see anything there that would increase their risk of hacking. And just making your IP address public does not increase your hacking risk.

I have removed the IP/MAC address, but it still doesn't answer the question of why it is Warm Resetting (automatically rebooting) so often.

 

And yes I have done a "Factory Reset". (It is at the bottom of the Maintenance Logs.)

Techniclly no, but socially who knows. Just erring on the side of caution. Its a lot of information and I don't know what might or might not be useful. Info that I can see includes:

Probable Name: Miles, the WAN IP, an Optus customer, equipment make and model. Possible state / suburb location (from the WAN).

Coupled with a few other sources of information and a bit of effort I can see some exposure.

Not really wanting to analyse 100's of lines of diagnostics on the off chance it mentions you've done a hard reset.  🐵

As I said, If you have done one and the modem is still resetting frequently then its likely a faulty modem. The logs suggest it has powered up properly and connected to the internet but at some unknown time it resets (possibly heat related?) There's nothing in the logs between 100% up and running and Warm Reset to point to some connection failure etc. 

Request a replacement modem. Optus should ship one out at no cost.

I talked with the Optus technician and he thought it might be that the Modem was not plugged directly into the wall. Basically thinking that Modem was not receiving clean power (spikes, etc.). I have tested it for the last 7 hours, and It just did another warm reset even though it is the only electronic device connected into that outlet.

I will contact Optus tomorrow and see about getting another modem. It is just a little frustrating because this will be the 3rd modem since we started with Optus in Feb.

Some devices are certainly more touchy with power so its a possibility.

Try plugging it into a different power socket via an power extension cord, see if that makes a difference.

We replaced the Modem, and now it seems to be working.
