Internet not working

Hey all,

 

About two hours ago my Internet cut out. I've the white sagemcon modem and I've done multiple reboots, including a 45min power down while I went out. It has a solid green light DSL, green for wifi but there is no light for Internet. I Tried calling support but keep getting disconnected/line busy.

 

I am located in Marrickville, Sydney. Is there an outage? If so approximately what time will it be returned to normal service?

 

If I'm an isolated problem could I get someone looking into the issue.

Edit: got through to automated message stating there is a problem and they have technicans working on it.

Noticed my internet (and home phone) was not working on Thursday morning.  Since then I have tried ringing support (they won't take a call, but yes, the techies are working on it!) and checked the site to for outages - apparently there are no problems in Annandale.  The online chat site is too busy to talk!

 

Not good enough Optus!!

That's good to hear Daz, but we're really sorry for the inconvenience caused. 

 

fleurb456, is the internet back up and running now? If not, have you had a chance to speak with Tech Support yet? If so, do you have a fault reference number handy?

I've notice in the last 2-3 weeks that the network slows down dramatically in the evening at 3023. Are you guys throttling the network to accomodate the influx of netflix users? No issues during the day but it gets throttled to about 10-15 Mbps in the evening.

Hi joeyyao, sorry to hear that you are experiencing slow speeds. I can assure you that we only throttle internet connections if you have gone over your monthly quota. During the evenings most people get online and make use of their internet connections, which creates increased load on all networks, not just Optus. Are you noticing these slow downs on just certain websites/services?

 

Have you spoken to our tech support team? We will be able to test your line and let you know if there are any outages affecting your service. Please give us a call on 1300739407 (ADSL), 1300300693 (Cable) or 1300300427 (NBN) and we'll be happy to assist.

Hi Nghi, thank you for your reply. I'm on the unlimited data with speed pack and have been with Optus for more or less 5 years now without any issues. I understand about the bandwith being use by more people nowadays. I've also spoken to your Tech. Unfortunately no one can give me a technical analysis of the problem. The download speed dramatically drops between 3:00 PM (78 Mbps) - 10:00 PM (5Mbps). Your Tech got my mobile number and advice that they will inform me of any upgrade. Upgrade from where to what is not clear. I would appreciate if someone can explain to me in Technical Term the situation on your network during these times. Below is a short copy of my monitoring.
