Guys, asking for a friend also an Optus customer.
Yesterday he bought a new Apple Macbook air 13" botebook. He has an older Toshiba Laptop. He uses an optus huawei E173 Dongle to connect to his Toshiba no problem. Yesterday after buying his new macbook air the optus huawei E173 Dongle doesn't connect. I got on to the Optus support chat and the operator could not help me as the dongle works on his old laptop. I was giving zero/ nil/ zippo support from the operator. None whatsoever.
Does anyone know how I should be connecting the optus huawei E173 Dongle to a new Apple Macbook air ?
Anything other than inserting it into the USB port?
thanks in advance.
The E173 is an old low speed 3G modem from the 2010 era.
We moved on, to fast dual channel 3G, and then 4G, and now aggregated 4G.
On the E173 Optus info page, it says:
10% off on Prepaid Mobile Devices: Exclusive to online. Offer ends March 14 th 2011. No rainchecks apply. While stocks last. Not available in conjunction with any other offer unless specified. Does not apply to iPhone 3GS 8GB.
It's like being mad at support for not supplying RS232 drivers for your dialup modem.
Yes too right. My friends says he has ordered new dongle anyway prior to getting his MB air.
Once that arrives we shall see how we go and I will re assess.
