Home number porting to be suspended

Just a heads up that it appears many in the process of joining the NBN may lose their home phone number (if they are trying to port it across). Customers will need to either cancel the order or elect to get a new number). This won't affect all numbers (Just Telstra issued ones at the moment apparently)


"We have been advised this morning that Telstra Wholesale has suspended all PSTN number porting due to the majority of this work being done overseas and those locations are now shut down. Much of this work is manual in their systems.

As a result, we have had to suspend all number porting until at least 6 April, however, we have no guarantees that porting will resume at that time. We advise that porting will not be available for the foreseeable future."

"This issue will affect all carriers and will most likely affect the porting of non-Telstra numbers, as many Optus and other carrier numbers were originally from Telstra. Where Telstra is the doner carrier of the number, even if it's on another carrier, we expect that port will also be affected.

Good info Peter thanks for sharing, we're standing by for more info on porting for all service types.
