Home Phone no dial tone

Hi,

Netgear  CG3000. Home bundle plan includes phone.

Been working fine.  Last week lost dial tone so no phone service.  Internet works fine but no home phone service.   The two (2) Phone 1 and Phone 2 lines are both flashing on the Modem  - what does this mean. Is this a problem on the Optus side?  Like SIP not activated or something they need to reset.

All ideas welcome, but in particular what does the flashing phone line lights mean n the Modem.

John

From the manual:

• Green Solid. Registered with the Call Agent.
• Green Blink. There is an active call.
• Green Slow Blink. Phone is on-hook, registration with Call Agent is in progress.
• Off. No phones are connected to the phone port.

Same with me, my landline is also not working and the Tel1, Tel2 lights on my modem are also blinking.
Are all your Ethernet lights also turned on for yout modem?

Re: Home Phone no dial tone

It’s doing the “Green slow blink”, but I don’t understand what “Phone is on-hook, registration with Call Agent is in progress” actually means. We are not on NBN yet. We have now had no home phone for 7 days.

Means the phone handset is not in use.

registration with Call Agent is in progress

Means the modem its trying to tell the Optus computers that its ready to receive/make calls.

So if its failing here its indicating a problem on the Optus end.

Thankyou, that's what we thought. Will keep trying to get through to them.
