Re: Extremely Slow speed 2Mbps~7Mbps on Cable (supposed to be 100Mbps)

I stareted to notice bandwidth improvement about 2 weeks ago. During night peak the speed is still acceptable, sometimes I could still see >90Mbps downstream which I haven't seen for ages (since April 2015).

I believe this is the result of Carlingford exchange upgrade. I haven't been noticed, no email no SMS. I didn't know where to find this sort of information either (don't bother to...).

I'll keep posting night peak speed test results for the next few weeks.

Below is 3 set of tests using Auto via http://speedtest.syd.optusnet.com.au/ looks like the page is being modified or something.

1. Last Result:
Download Speed: 71331 kbps (8916.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 877 kbps (109.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 10 ms
Jitter: 9 ms
8/6/2015, 9:37:59 PM

2. Last Result:
Download Speed: 90011 kbps (11251.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 949 kbps (118.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 11 ms
Jitter: 5 ms
8/6/2015, 9:48:02 PM

3. Last Result:
Download Speed: 87073 kbps (10884.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 879 kbps (109.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 11 ms
Jitter: 5 ms
8/6/2015, 9:49:51 PM

Looks pretty good for now.

BTW: On speedtest.net using internode mirror

Download 84.9Mbps / upload 0.76Mbps @ 9:46pm

I'm on the Carlingford exchange too (not sure 1 or 2) - Did Optus get back to you as to what they did to restore your speeds?

Re: Extremely Slow speed 2Mbps~7Mbps on Cable (supposed to be 100Mbps)

@terrywang, those are excellent speed test results for the evening 🙂 I had a chat to our Tech team and they confirmed work was done to the exchange and node in July so you should continue to see this improvement.

@mmaslen, more than happy to check out your connection also? Drop me a PM with your Optusnet email address or account number and I'll take a look for you.

Re: Extremely Slow speed 2Mbps~7Mbps on Cable (supposed to be 100Mbps)

@Jax_K , @Dan_DS  has been helping me with my download speed issues.

He created a fault report for your Case Management team on 5th Aug ‎2015 at 3:13pm.

I have not heard back anything from your Case Management team.

Re: Extremely Slow speed 2Mbps~7Mbps on Cable (supposed to be 100Mbps)

Yes. We have same issue. Optus sales persuaded us changing from TPG to Optus 30M. But now we pay more but get less bandwidth. We can only get 4-5M/s now, not as good as TPG. TPG guarantees 8M and we have never experienced low speed internet access.
