Does anyone have the Optus Wireless Home broadband?

Just wondering if anyone is using the Optus Wireless broadband, the one that doesn’t require a phone line.

As we can only get adsl 1 anyway we thought we would try the month to month wireless package from Optus while in our current situation until Christmas but don’t want to spend $300 for the modem if it’s complete garbage.

Product is great but no one here can advise how well it will go at your place.

The router itself is very good, that won't be an issue, local capacity is what impacts it the most.

Re: Does anyone have the Optus Wireless Home broadband?

@relindwto6Before you commit to anything. Wait until Woolies or Coles have an Optus data SIM on special (aka 50%off) and but it. Put it in your phone and see what the download speeds are at your place over a week or two at different times of the day. Please the phone in the same spot as you are going to put the B818 modem. There are mobile apps to show the download speed etc and I would advice getting one while testing.

If the speeds are okay then the probability that the Optus wireless broadband will be acceptable are high (not that same as the modem and B818 modem use different mobile bands, aka frequencies).

The the speeds suck then IMHO do NOT get wireless broadband.

Do NOT go off the Optus coverage maps for wireless broadband, unless it indicates that you will get no signal.

Good luck. If you know someone with any Optus 4G modem that you could borrow to do the test then it would be a better test.
