Hello Optus / Optus community,
I am playing an MMORPG and on my Optus Unlimted plan for I think $60 a month including phone line, and while playing from 10 AM onwards during the day, the smoothness of the game is not good. It is not flowing smoothly.
I hope the bandwidth and latency can be fixed up soon.
Or does one have to upgrade to a higher-level plan to have smoother serious Internet MMORPG gaming smoothness?

Bandwidth won't be the problem (the amount of data to be transfered).
The latency (Ping) will be the problem.
Unfortunately upgrading to a more expensive Optus plan won't change the ping at all.
I assume you are connecting to overseas servers? Which is why you're experiencing issues as the US? starts coming online. So the problem is possibly not occuring at Optus but when your data hits the international pipes.
You can ring / livechat Optus and ask them to run a test on your line and see what the PING is. Try run some speed tests yourself, to local servers and ones overseas.
Actually my game is connecting to Australian/New Zealand servers (Oceania).
The game would probably be even choppier if connecting to US servers?
Overseas would likely be worse.
I assume you are not on the NBN yet? Optus cable or ADSL?
I'd run some speed tests still. Look to the PING value (Shouldn't be more than 100 - Gaming <50 would be better)
Run the tests at a few different times of the day.

I'd just google it (speedtest). Try a few different ones and they should give a good idea of what you're getting.
