I am on Optus NBN, could be a connection issue with cable. Just tried it on my computer via Chrome, on my Mi5S via Chrome. How about turn off wifi and see if using mobile data will let you connect. If yes then it could be your cable connection.
Do you have another phone or computer connected to the cable Internet? If yes, then can you access the Chinese websites on those devices? If no, then please check if there are any filtering on the modem. Maybe give optus support a quick chat via livechat.
I encounter the same issue. My home is using Optus cable. Tried from multiple computers, I couldn't connect to qq.com via the modem. However, I can use the same computer to access qq.com via my mobile hotspot connection. So far, I only find qq.com cannot access via the modem. Other websites are fine.
I called Optus technical support yesterday. They could not help. Anyone has ideas?
