Re: B818 Firmware update

@Tigers1719  There is a HUGE difference when using LTHEMonitor and looking at the bands available to enable for download.

Also the Network mode drop down has some 5G options

Some of the bands are NOT available on Optus some are not available in Australia.

I have not seen any other obvious end user changes or spotted any changes that affect the upload or download speeds with my setup.

I use LTEMonitor to change bands and configure the Modem radio settings.

Re: B818 Firmware update

With the 5g in the drop down list it looks they are back to using shared firmware bases between devices.

Perhaps Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 H122-373 being the next 5g Home router - covers n40 and n78 for 5g - which is what Optus is using.

Re: B818 Firmware update

@AndrewC1  I have installed LTEHMonitor and I have found that if I set B3 to my upload and B3 and B40 to my download I get the best performance.
However the modem keeps reverting back to B40 for upload and the upload speed is very slow.
I am wondering am I doing something wrong please?

Re: B818 Firmware update

@Tigers1719You need to login first.

I found that my upload speed and download speed are mutually exclusive where I am in Croydon Park NSW. I can get good upload, but download sucks or vice versa and during the evenings the tower is congested and download slows to 20 to 30Mbps.

I have not seen the bands change, except on the following:

a) firmware upgrade

b) APN change

c) Making changes via the Web interface that affect the modem config.

I would suggest checking out whirlpool to see if anyone else has been having issues with the modem reverting the bands back.

I normally power off the modem every night and it has had the same band config B8/B40 for a number of weeks now (I think it may be near to a month and it has not changed).
