My AC800S optus modem is constantly restarting there are numerous posts about this on whirlpool forums. I have tried using it plugged into main without the battery. In the netgear cradle and with it just sitting there on battery power and it still restarts constantly.
Is there any news of this being fixed as this is a huge problem

Sounds like your device is faulty.
Ive had mine since launch and it has not restarted on me.
Thanks for the reply paddy. But this is a known issue and there are loads of people on the forums with this exact issue. This is an optus firmware issue since contacting netgear results in them saying this is an ISP firmware issue.
Would like to get a response from optus about this issue before I return the device and get another one that has the same problem.
I'm following this one up with our mobile Network interface management team as we speak. There have been a number of threads on this topic and it doesn't look like we've been able to offer a clear solution. I'll confirm with the team if a firmware upgrade is currently in the works and if so, when we can expect it to be pushed out.
I've actually raised this one with our OMB product specialist. We've been advised that since the dc112a cradle isn't an Optus product. We first need to confirm whether the modem works without the cradle. Firmware version (NTG9X40C_11.14.08.31 ) was released back in November 2017. The update was intended to fix the cradle issues.
First we'd need to confirm that the modem has been updated. I guess the problem lies in the fact that we wern't sent testing samples therefore we haven't been able to assess whether there are compatibility issues.
Shame that the moderator has just focused on the cradle. The issue is the AC800s just randomly retarting like mine does. It is on the latest firmware release. To test if it was related to the battery being 100% constanly charged, it is on a timer that allows it to partially discharge to about 70% before recharging starts.
Mine is not tethered, works fine most of time, 3 times faster than the Optus adsl2+ I had, but will run for upto 13 days, or just a few hours before it self restarts.
Current firmware is much better than what came with it as that was lucky to not restart after just a few hours, Optus even replaced the SIM card was about to replace unit before the new firmware mostly solved that.
Good try, but not enough for professional ISP.
I am also experiencing the same issue where the network continually drops out unexpectedly. I don't have a cradle and the firmware is up to date. A response with an expected date when this issue is going to be resolved would be appreciated as it makes the device useless for doing anything that requires a connection for long periods of time.
+1 same thing happens to me. Every day. Super frustrating when playing PUBG. I'm not using any cradle or non-Optus device. Please update us on what the solution is Optus!@!!
The current firmware corrects this isuue, only infrequently restarts about 1 per month now for me
In the optus.ac800s application, select Settings from menu, in General select Software and Reset, then select the Check for Update
This problem of the device crashing and restarting is not solved with the latest firmware.
I bought a new AC800s and I had this restarting problem from the first day.
Modem was replaced under warranty, but the replacement device is no better.
Restarting always happens on LTE B3 (1800MHz)
Restarting doesn't occur on LTE B28 (700MHz)
I'm not sure about other LTE bands.
Does Optus have any other Cat9 modems that aren't faulty like the AC800s?
