Our thirst for mobile data is unquenchable, our mobile devices have become a beacon of comfort, a reminder that our friends and family are only at the tap of an app away. Not to mention, an endless source of entertainment.

It’s hardly surprising that we’ve seen a massive rise in use of text based, voice and video messaging apps. But we’ve also seen a surge of mobile gaming app downloads and an even sharper rise in the use of video and music streaming services.

We want to offer our customers a day where they can use their data without worry. That’s why we’re excited to announce Unlimited Data Day!

Just a pity a huge chunk of pre and postpaid customers are excluded.

Signed up to a 36 month iPhone 11 plan Set/Oct last year, around a month before new plans and I am not eligible.

Postpaid Mobile:

Optus Choice, Optus One, Optus Family and Optus Kids plans.

I'd be surprised if Optus don't open it up to more plans soon. The data costs them next to nothing and the extra $5-$20 people might spend is pure profit. Possibly just gauging the popularity first so they don't overload (any further) their network.

Update: The page is now live.

Just an FYI guys:

The Unlimited Data Day page will be up shortly, in the meantime, you can activate your Unlimited Data Day add-on by following the steps outlined here.

Thanks @Paddylee,

We’re more than happy to feed this back to the team.

@petergdownload  Optus definitely tailor their plan inclusions and allowable optional extras to drive customers to specific plans, so it would not surprise me if it either does not get opened op to more plans, no no many more.

Hey guys,

At this stage, we’re not currently offering this product on our older plans, however we are always looking for ways to improve our products and services. If anything changes, we’ll be sure to keep you all updated.
If it's any consolation @Paddylee@Ray_YC and I are happy to set up a stream date with you over Zoom or your choice of video calling app. I'll share my screen with you 😉

What are you streaming at the moment? Let's make it a date.

Oh.... alright then, as long as it doesn't clash with my stream date with @Kara_YC

We're binge watching... what's it called again? 🤔

I'd be astonished if Optus don't free it up to more plans soon. The information costs them close to nothing and the extra $5-$20 individuals may spend is unadulterated benefit. Conceivably simply measuring the notoriety first so they don't over-burden  their system.

Shame about the speed, since the unlimited data was introduced my speed dropped from around 9mbps to less then 1mbps.  That's when is actually working because half the time the browser times out, now using a Telstra prepaid sim until I can switch over to another telco.  Dashboard is just as useless, it tells me I have 2 days left before the end of the period on 16 July.  HELLO ??? Today IS the 16th of July.

And that's even before Virgin shuts down and their users move over to Optus.

Optus you know where you can put your unlimited plans.
