Hi all I am currently on the My entertainment package $90 per Month which according to your new plans is OK for Free EPL.

However when I put in my details to register I get not eligible.

Can you help?

I signed up less than 2 months ago on a 24 months contract. I pay $105 a month, and I've also just been told my plan is 'not eligible'. This is a joke. The new plans are ridiculously over priced compared to what i pay now. This EPL offer is a scam if existing customers who pay the same price ($85+) are not eligible.

Just remeber not everything is full proof. TMCEPL has the right idea asking how to confirm/fix. I'd say live chat at this stage would be your best bet if the form isn't working correctly - http://yesopt.us/chat2us

Howchie, how were you informed? Just via the form or did you speak to someone via phone/chat/store? I swear I read somewhere it's been made available on almost all plans so I'm hoping the information you were provided was a mistake with that sort of monthly spend

Hi SamSam, I was informed by an Optus rep by calling the help line that if I wanted EPL I would need to 'upgrade' to the $140 My Entertainment Plan to get what I currently have for $105 p/m with EPL. However, I have just finished a chat with the Optus Facebook team, and they have confirmed I will get the EPL free with what I'm currently on, and have completed the pre-order for me. So it seems even Optus employees have no idea currently what is going on with the EPL!

On-demand matches and highlights. Missed the game? Not a problem. Up to 290 matches per season on-demand and highlights mean the game kicks off when you want it to. Hi there, I have asked this before but did not get an answer, If only up to 290 matches are to be made available on demand, how is it going to be decided which games are only shown live and which will also be shown on demand?

So what happens if I'm able to receive EPL as part of my premium broadband package with optus but then I leave the house and I want to watch it on my mobile phone? (My provider on mobile is Telstra as I have 1 year to go with them on my contract). Do I still get unmetered streaming on my Telstra mobile through the app because Im a premium home broadband subscriber??

SamSam

No Optus can't offer you unmetered streaming of any service through another provider (unless they pulled off a very unlikely deal between the 2 telcos). The EPL will be unmetered on Optus services. If you're watching on any other provider then you'll need to check with them as to what the costs will be

@SamSam yeah that makes sense. As long as I will be able to have the EPL app on my iphone even though Im with Telstra then im happy and Ill just have to wait till my contract is over to switch to Optus

You're eligibility checker does not work. 2 hours on the phone so far:

- First call - 15 minutes on hold, they say they can't hear me properly (I'm on the Optus network after all) and after 5 minutes they hang up.

- Second call - after a few minutes on hold - get through to SALES. Can't help me - have no access to anything. Say they'll put me through to customer services.

- After another 30 minutes on hold I speak to someone who says he needs to call through to someone else so puts me on hold.  He comes back, says he can't help me and says I'll need to speak with... CUSTOMER SERVICES. But that's who I was put through to! Oh, no, Sales put me through to the wrong people.  This is Cable Support. But there's ZERO wait for Customer Services, he says, and puts me through.

- ANOTHER 20 minutes on hold and I get through to someone's lounge room with conversations in a foreign language. And this person has no idea what my call is about. This person is clearly disinterested and rude. I tell them - 6 times - my phone account number. I explain the problem that I do not want to have to use Optus "Customer DisService" anymore and need to know how I can use my online account properly even though it is the most hopeless account management system I've ever used. This person in the Philippines puts me on hold. And I'm still on hold after another 30 minutes.

So Optus, what are you going to do about it? Your online eligibility tools don't work. Your account management tools don't work. Your "customer service" tools don't work. And I'm still only getting 1-5mbps while paying for 30mbps. Clearly even people on your $115 bundle don't qualify for the EPL, usable internet or customer service.

You want to use the EPL to win customers?! You can't even use it to keep them.

You guys have got to be kidding me!!

After waiiting for the $85 plan that kept getting put back and back and having to upgrade to the $100 plan (because at the time I needed a new phone and the 80plan was not going to be enough to get the EPL) You go and announce that the plan I was on $60per month would have been enough to get me the EPL

I trust you guys will be offering all those that had to sign a new contract inbetween the minimum $85 plan and the new announcement a chance to renegotiate (ie Drop) to a lesser cost plan !??

Very frustrating having to wait for July to order satellite... I'm happy to move my mobile contract which is up in July to Optus and get the EPL but will not sign up until I am guaranteed you will install satellite and hardware at my home... It should make no odds whether I can get internet good enough or not (which I cannot in Heidelberg, Melbourne) as no NBN plans, very weak ADSL as it is and no available nodes for Optus even if I wanted it... Long story short, if I am paying $250 plus the monthly access fee I should already have an ok no probe. And there is still very vague info on this mystery set top box! Smiley Very Happy All Trish confirmed on the now 'removed EPL thread was that it can record/rewind. MORE INFO and transparency PLEASE! Many thanks

Hi Optus - can you please help with some questions on data consumption: If you get the Optus EPL with a valid home Broadban package, its my understanding that this will not cont toward your data limit - is this correct? Also, if you have an Optus post paid mobile, and you watch the EPL on your 4G network, using the home broadband login details, would this count toward your mobile phone data usage? Thanks

I have been with Optus for years with same user name, yet it isn't recognised in the eligibility checker.

rabivich, you're right on both counts. Data consumption across the entire Optus network for the EPL is unmetered or in other words, doesn't count towards your data usage

Gooner, did you try your username with and without the @optusnet.com part at the end? Have found some systems need it and others don't

Hi guys, thanks for posting, I'll just point out that we've been having a few problems with the eligibility checker that is being investigated currently. I can say that any fixed bundles/naked broadband services would be included. Feel free to send me a PM with your account details such as phone number or username and DOB if you'd like this confirmed though.

@Howchie, you wouldn't need to change going off the plan details you've mentioned, unsure why the rep would have advised what they did, sorry for the inconvenience.

@Johnny_Utah This has to do with the agreement we have with EPL. Not sure on how the available matches will be decided at this point. This is currently being reviewed.

@Jamesk811 As SamSam has confirmed, un-metered streaming can only be offered where you're accessing EPL content via the Optus network. Sorry about that!

@JT81 I totally agree that's a really poor experience, your bundle will be eligible for EPL access though.

@Onemadgooner Could you send me a PM so we can look into some options? We didn't anticipate changes to the eligible offers, totally get your point though

@Dun the hardware provided for the satellite connection is just a set top box we're making available for just EPL. It will have all the features that I'd mentioned on the old thread including access to the EPL app with catch up matches. There won't be any additional content though. Generally speaking, if you're property is a free standing house and you have permission for the installation we'll be able to go ahead. More info on this to come though

@rabivich Happy to help! Any EPL data you access via the Optus network will be un-metered, this includes both via the fixed and mobile network. Advertisements, analytics and authentication will use data and may incur data charges, this will be really minimal though

@Gooner71 Feel free to send me a PM with your username and DOB thanks, I'll check if you're eligible Smiley Happy

Thanks for help @SamSam Smiley Very Happy

Hey Tris, thanks for the response its appreciated.

Last couple of Q's if you don't mind...

Just wish to confirm that the box:-

a) Has the 24/7 EPL channel

b) Will Broadcast all games on the EPL overflow channels in HD (and can record at my choice)

c) You mention an EPL app on the box for catchup shows?

d) You mention no additional content? I'm a tad unsure what you mean for this

e) Is the hardware included in the $250 admin fee and subsequent $20 monthly access?

Many thanks, Smiley Happy

Tris
by Moderator Tris
‎2016-06-07 01:05 PM

No problemo @Dun! Yup, the satellite option will have the 24/7 EPL channel, with up to 10 sub channels depending on how many matches are on. You can record as well (unsure at this stage how many matches you can watch and record at the same time)

The EPL app will just be a user interface where you can select specific matches that are available for viewing. When I mentioned no additional content I mean you won't be able to get anything other than EPL at this stage. For example, the premium channels available on Yes TV by Fetch.

The $250 is for installation, there's no charge for the actual hardware, it remains property of Optus. Should you cancel the subscription, we'll come and remove the hardware at no cost to you.

Phew! Hope that answers everything Smiley Happy Don't hesitate to let me know if you need anything else clarified though

Thanks Tris...

This is (by far) the most creditable info provided on the sat option in all these months since it was first mentioned, so yes that's made me very happy indeed!...

I can hazard a guess as to why we cannot order Sat Broadcast yet (partly down to facilitating the pubs getting installation as priority as for them it would obviously cost more and be quite different for every premises), but yeh I just wish I could get it ordered like right now I'm dying to get this ironed out. Suffice to say you can tell how much I wanna watch the EPL.

Again though many thanks

I have a couple of questions as  I notice there has been no mention regarding the quality of your EPL broadcast:

1) Will it be in full HD quality - assuming the internet speed at the premises is capable?

2) What speeds are recommended to reveive full HD quality?

3) Do you need to have an eligible broadband plan to receive full HD coverage - or will your EPL mobile plans offer full HD quality also (for example, use my non-Optus ISP but use the Fetch Mini / Apple TV to stream to my TV).

Contrary to what Tris has said, I have been told the $115 plan is not eligible (I have the $25 discount making it $90 per month). I signed up a year ago on the $90 unlimited broadband deal that Optus was selling for about 6 months.

I spent another 20 minutes today (15 minutes on hold) on the phone to customer service. He seemed to hang up on me mid-sentence, but thankfully called me back... Only to say (contrary to your comment) that the $115 plan is not eligible and tried to upsell me. I interjected and let him know that this was the last straw.

1. Terrible speeds. Pay for 30, get 5; no plans to upgrade; can't watch ESPN on my fetch box (NOT HD so can't see the ball); regular blackouts/buffering periods on all channels.

2. Terrible speeds only going to get worse with people using the cable network for EPL.

3. Terrible Customer Service:

- virtually inaccessible (expect hours on hold each time with several transfers to other departments, with very few seeming to have a clue what is going on)

- inconsistent (all the visible CS sounds promising, all the private CS shoots that down)

4. Impossible online account management (necessitates phone customer service - see above):

- online eligibility checkers are useless

- confusing optuszoo/member services/my account details and impossible to link accounts/reset passwords etc because none of the correct account number/service number/username works. Plenty of forum topics dating back years suggest Optus have no intention to improve their systems.

I'm now planning on a Foxtel deal (MUCH better sports and TV offerint) plus a much cheaper ADSL2+... I didn't join Optus for the EPL, but I'm about to leave because of it.

thats weird as I also have the Same discount and paying $95 per month for NBN and I filled in my details and was told I get it for free. I don't think $5 would be the difference between me getting it free and you having to pay. If that's the case then it's pretty crap.

I have some questions that I hope that can be clarified by Optus.

1. Streaming via Optus Premier League website, will this work outside of Optus' network? (eg. home internet)

2. Streaming via Android devices (mobile/tablet), will this work outside of Optus' network? (eg. home internet)

2. Streaming via Fetch Mini, Android devices and Optus Premier League website, are they all in HD quality? (depending on internet connection)

Thanks.

Maybe there is someone who thinks my plan is eligible.  But (a) it should not depend on who I talk to and (b) I'm not wasting more hours working that out.

I never asked for EPL and, frankly, don't care all that much whether I get it.  I would much rather decent internet speed - the speed I am paying for and that Optus promise but fail to provide.

But Optus have indicated I'm not going to get decent speeds.  Instead, they are now trying to sign up more and more people, using the EPL as a carrot, with no apparent intention to upgrade infrastructure (in my area at least) so that the network can handle it.  I can only see the thing I want (decent internet) become less and less likely, because Optus are overloading their infrastructure even further and spending all their cash on purchasing viewing rights rather than fixing their obvious problems.

JT81
by Occasional Contributor JT81
‎2016-06-07 09:48 PM

kenl000 - I think you meant to say "The eligibility checker does work for me. Use your I used my associated Optus phone number rather than your my username."

Although I'm sure you meant nothing by it, please don't presume to direct other people as to what to do. Suggestions/questions ("have you tried..,?") are more polite, and less likely to sound like the arrogant Optus CS team who act as though they know more than they usually do after 1 minute of conversation, and are condescending towards their customers who have lived with the issues and performed the troubleshooting over months.

I'm sure the eligibility checker works for some, but it definitely does not work for many (and hasn't worked for many for past promotions - like the Australian Cricket Family membership).  There are plenty of instances of people getting the "Ooops, we can't find your account" message and complaining, with no fix ever coming.  The problem with the EPL is that it now takes hours to talk to someone, and that still won't guarantee you will get the correct answer - Tris says my plan is eligible, some guy on the phone said I'd have to pay Optus more. With the cricket 6 months ago, Optus were aware of the problem with the eligibility checker and provided a number to call if it didn't work. But most people were eligible for the Cricket and Customer Service only took half an hour or an hour and then were quick to send you your membership code.

If Optus actually listed out the plans that were eligible for EPL, and had a direct line for those unable to "pre-order" EPL online with an eligible plan, this would be a far simpler process.  Instead, many need to spend hours on the phone, only to have someone in an overseas call centre try to force you onto a much more expensive product. The lack of information is immensely aggravating.

Interesting announcement today, and, as predicted by myself a month ago, there is now a $30 option for those without Optus home broadband, except it's 35 with the fetch mini, which will only show EPL and no other channels. Ok then.

Slightly confused about the 'EPL is now free' offer, when it was always going to be included in a package of $110, which is the only decent package really available. OK then.

When I first heard Optus had the rights, I was happy enough to change provider and get it all for a decent price. The price has turned out to be $35 more than I'm paying now. Hmmm ok then.

My only question to Optus was regarding the quality of service, and despite MANY attempts to ask them the software they would be using, I was ignored, so my fears grew.

Then there is a public outcry, so suddenly my brakes go on, and Optus crawl into their shells and revamp the whole deal, but no change for me.

In the meantime due to all the fracas, I've been exploring options such as IPTV which for $35 a month give me a ton of UK channels, and many, many sport channels. I have also always had the backup of free streaming on the Net, although I'm happy to pay for decent quality.

The upshot is that because Optus have messed the whole thing around, instead of grabbing me when it all seemed like a fair idea, they have compounded their problems to the point where I no longer think I need them.

What could have been a fair deal swop out has become a complete mess of distrust.

You've blown it Optus, as expected, we all know how you manage things, and this is par for the course for you, a complete shambles, and I'm now supposed to trust you blindly as I change my ISP, and pay more money to be led into a dark cave of your choosing?

The honeymoon is over before it began.

Oh, OK. It's just that when I tried my username, the eligibility checker reported that I wasn't eligible, but trying my phone number indicated that I was eligible. I'm on the $115 Big Home Bundle. Also I rang Optus and the guy there told me that I was "definitely" eligible and it's free (for me) ... so I guess I'll find out soon Just to clarify -- when I say I'm eligible, it means that I don't need to change plans, but stay on my existing plan.

Glad to help @Dun, stay tuned for info on dates when we can organise the satellite installation. For folks ordering early, we'll definitely have it up and running before the start of the season

@armc EPL will be broadcast at HD, we're yet to confirm the speeds you'd require, reason being we're working on deploying CNDs (content delivery network) so generally speaking would be less than required when streaming content from O/S links. The stream will be HD regardless of the network you're using via any of the delivery method, EPL data is only un-metered via the Optus network though

@JT81 Again, sorry for the trouble with inconsistent information and the ongoing problems with your service and experience. I can confirm that EPL access would be included in your bundle though. The general rules for eligibility are an access fee over $85 per month, so even in the case that you're paying $90 per month you'd still be included. Further to this, we're also making EPL access free to most existing customers. Your plan is quite recent, so what I've confirmed is the case. It's disappointing that you're thinking of moving on, please let me know if there's anything else I can help with

@k1s3k1 Yup, you can access the EPL app, web portal and Yes TV by Fetch on external networks, there will just be a profile authentication process depending on the option. EPL data outside of the Optus network may be metered though, so something to bear in mind. All EPL content will be broadcast in HD as well, as you've mentioned, this would be dependent on your connection speed. Hope this helps.

@Gooner71 Just responded to your PM a little earlier on Smiley Wink

@kenl000 Can confirm you're eligible for free access going off the plan you've mentioned

@Tris Thanks for answering my enquiries. I have some more enquiries I hope you can clarify Smiley Happy

1. Can I get more than 1 Fetch Mini boxes at additional $5/month or I'm restricted to only 1?

2. It is mentioned that you can watch simultaneously on a Fetch box and a device (website or tablet or mobile).

But can you watch simultaneously on 2 devices, say on 2 laptops through the website?

3. Can you watch the same game simultaneously?

Nghi
by RetiredModerator Nghi
‎2016-06-08 08:04 PM

@k1s3k1

1. You can only get one Yes TV by Fetch mini device per account.

2. The Yes TV by Fetch stream is treated differently from all other streams like mobile/website. You can watch only watch a single stream on mobile/website plus an extra stream on the Yes TV by Fetch box. So you aren't able to have two laptops watching through the website at the same time.

3. When you say simultaneously, do you mean on the Yes TV by Fetch box plus one other device? Then yes, you'll be able to view the same game on the Yes TV by Fetch box plus another device.

Tried a number of times to check if my current plan was eligible via this page: https://offer.optus.com.au/epl

Entered current acccount details and always: "We couldn't find a service that matched the credentials you provided, please check the input and try again."

Frustrating when I'm actually logged in. Can EPL eligibilty details just be posted to a persons account - so when they log in there is message/offer - rather than routing optus and non-optus enquiries through same page

Dave
by RetiredModerator Dave

Hey Macca - below is the current info we have available on Satellite right now - more details to come!

How does the satellite option for Premier League work?

The Optus Satellite service is a dedicated Optus Sport Channel delivering all live Premier League content to a set-top-box (different from the Yes TV by Fetch set-top-box) that connects to your TV. This service allows fans to watch the 24/7 Optus Sport Channel and all the live games in High Definition.

Does the Optus Satellite service use or need a broadband connection?

No, the Optus Satellite service uses satellite to provide the Premier League to your home. Optus Satellite is not streamed over the internet so you don’t need a broadband connection to have the satellite service.

Please note: the Optus Satellite option is only available if you are on a Premier League eligible plan AND have the Premier League subscription.

When will the satellite option be available?

The Optus Satellite option will launch in July, which is when orders can be placed.

When will we recommend Optus Satellite to a customer?

We will be providing guidance on  when we recommend the Optus Satellite solution to you. This recommendation will take into account your connection type (fixed ADSL, NBN or Cable) and forecasted broadband experience. We will also look at whether you can get a broadband connection at your home.  Optus Satellite will not be available to all homes and you will be required to have an eligible plan and Premier League subscription.

Ive read on here that even though you are eligible for the EPL by being on a current plan ($85+) that you still need to register for EPL. Is this right?

Joined up to Optus on the $50 MY PLAN PLUS for the EPL, using the eligibility checker, get ' We couldn't find a service that matched the credentials you provided, please check the input and try again.' Any one help?

@ markscarfe That's correct. Even though your current plan is eligible, you'll still need to subscribe to EPL. That way a login will be created for you to access the content once it becomes available.

@shero88 Are you a brand new customer? Has your service actually started working yet? It can take a few days for our online systems to see a brand new service.

I am on a post-paid mobile plan - paying over the $85 and hence qualify for the so called "free epl".
Does this mean i am able to watch the games from my T.V with the fetch mini box for free or is this feature at an added cost? (technically making it not free).
Therefore, to summarise my question, does this "free" bundle mean i am only able to watch it through my computer screen/tablet/phone and not through the T.V unless an extra fee is paid?

Side note: If this is the case why would people pay the extra fee if you can just hook your P.C up to your T.V ?

To watch it on your TV with the Fetch mini will cost you an extra $5 per month.

So why would someone pay the extra $5 per month when you can just hook up your PC to your TV at no cost?

markscarfe

You can if you want to. You asked if the mini would be free or not. I answered that it would not be.

Some people may not have a PC or maybe their PC is too far away from their TV so the $5 a month is a convenience thing more than a necessity.

how can I subscribe for a logon? I provided all my details and was just told thanks for pre ordering but received no log in or further instructions..

Hi @Optus, 2 quick questions.

The devices list below doesn't include iOS, will that be in the upcoming compatable smartphones confirmation?

Tell me more about the devices I can watch Optus Premier League on the go?
Compatible Smartphones:
Android (versions 4.4 to 6.01)
We will confirm other compatable smartphones soon.
Compatible tablets:
Android (Versions 4.4 to 6.01)
We will confirm other compatable smartphones soon.
Website support browsers:
Windows OS: Microsoft Edge, IE11 on Windows 7 to 10, Firefox and Chrome
Mac OS: Safari 9 on Mac OS X on 10.10 and 10.11, Firefox and Chrome
For launch of the 2016/17 Season we won’t be supporting Chromecast, Apps for Smart TVs or Apps for Gaming Consoles.

Secondly, I have a $135 Emtertainment Bundle with Fetch TV so EPL is included. I also have a $100 My Plan Plus mobile contract, so that means I would get the EPL on that.

Because I have 2 eligible accounts, that should  mean I get two EPL passes right? When I did the eligibility checker, it confirmed on both accounts so I guess I'll get two sign-ups in July.

And because I have an eligible mobile contract, I should be able to get a Fetch Mini on said mobile account? As this is a completely seperate contract?

@Optus

I also have an eligible Tablet/Mobile Broadband service, so that's 3 eligible services. Or is there a limit on subscriptions per customer? Would be frustrating considering I shell out $300 per month to Optus.

If I've got a fetch tv box provided by my current adsl provider iinet, can I get EPL on this? I'm an eligible post paid customer with my mobile contract

Dave

@malex - It's an extra $5 for the Yes TV by Fetch mini - no additional costs. You could hook up your laptop/PC via HDMI but this wont suit everyone.

@Painetrain  Unsure which versions of iOS will be supported but we'll release more information on this soon. I haven't heard of a subscription limit per user.

@Mattsul27 You'll either need a Yes TV by Fetch Gen 2, Gen 3 or mini supplied by us to be able to access the EPL.

Firstly Thanks Dave and Tris for sorting out availabily for me . Still no confirming email, about how long should it take?

On the Fetch Box Gen matter. Tris advised that the Channels will work on the GEN 1 but not not the catch up app. Box can record so Gen 1 should be enough for us old timers.

Hollie  also advised that they were looking at rolling out updates to Gen 2 anything official timewise on this? Is there another way to upgrade if its a lengthy process.

Please forgive all the questions and chasing up , put it down to keeness to be ready for all the EPL goodness.

Cheers.

Hi Optus reps, many thanks to the ongoing valuable advice and assistance being given out here.

I don’t imagine that my situation is too much different from other rural customers, Optus has confirmed we are able to get the free 12-month access to EPL via our mobile service, but clearly it would be better to watch the action on our TV.   Having the VAST FTA satellite subscription means we have the necessary infrastructure in place to receive signals from your C1/D3 birds, and would love to get the EPL via that setup, especially as all we would be doing is taking up Optus’s generous offer and transferring the entitlement from one tech platform to another.

As manager of the VAST delivery platform Optus could do that with the right amount of negotiation with the VAST consortium, gee Optus could even provide subscription cards (suitably secured of course) for use in third-party boxes.   IMHO most punters in my situation would be happy to pay a one-off fee to transfer the entitlement rather than pay an install cost, and ongoing fee.   Unless the signal is going to come from D2, surely not as that would involve another dish and more cables!

I have the same problems as a few others above - when I enter my details in the eligibility site, I get an error that they cannot find my credentials. I rang support and they couldn't work it out, they have escalated the issue. Dave, you seem to have helped a few people with the same problem on this thread.

Also on the phone they told me that my $115 Big Home Bundle Plan is not eligible, because it is an "archived plan". This seems bizarre. The plan is a 24 month plan that continues until November 2016. How can it be ineligible on the basis it is too old, when I am still under contract? I cannot just change to another plan - I got a Galaxy Tab S as part of the plan and according to the plan conditions, if I change plan I have to pay $19 a month for the remaining months of the plan.

Also a number of people on this thread are on $115 plans do appear to be eligible.

My wife's mobile phone is on a $55 plan and she is eligible for free EPL next year. But as I understand it, I wouldn't get EPL on FetchTV that way.

This all just seems poorly thought out.

@Painetrain You sure can. They'll be available early July.

@macca_au I'll pass your feedback on to the project team. Assuming your home broadband is with another provider or does it come via satellite?

@Dave

Thanks Dave, FW speeds are great, 20Mbps+, that was the first thing I thought of, however you can appreciate that if it's possible to get EPL via my existing VAST satellite setup then it's one less box, one less remote, less power consumption, no drain on my download amount with another RSP, and if I can transfer the EPL entitlement from the mobile service (or pay a small fee to do so) then there's no ongoing cost.

Surely that's possible, after all Optus is the leading provider of satellite services in Oz!  I did hear a rumour that an EPL subscription can be added to an existing VAST sub so I will be interested to see if that comes to fruition.

Thanks again for the ongoing support, it must be a strain keeping up with all the EPL queries Smiley LOL

@macca_au, I can certainly understand where you're coming from. You just want the simplest solution however your situation does sound like a complex case. It'd be best to speak with our Satellite team directly once that product becomes available in July. At the moment there aren't any processes to facilitate what you're asking for.

Can I ask why the $115 plan (pay $90) is so hard to find out if I can get an EPL subscription. I have read that other people can get it, but when I call the support desk and and chat on facebook and all say I cannot get it which seems odd. The only place I may work it out is here. I have also sent PMs, but this service seems pretty poor.

Nghi

Hey @evilredfin, I can see that Dave is responding to your private message. Are you able to reply with the extra information so that this can get escalated? We have so many older and archived plans in our database and it's difficult for our programmers to plan for every version and configuration. Keep in mind we have the same plans across Cable, ADSL and NBN which are actually separate plans in the backend database. Though they all look the same from the customer's point of view. This extra complexity is causing some problems with our online checker. We appreciate your patience as we work through this.

Hi Optus, initial reaction to finding out you've got the epl is dismay. My internet connection is junk and I currently love being able to record the games on my foxtel box if I'm too knackered to sit up half the night. What are my options? I'm an Optus customer but have an old pre-paid sim only plan that I re-charge at $30 a month....I'm reading you have a satellite option but trying to make sense of how this is going to work is a headache. It sounds like you guys don't even know.

My mobile plan gives me free minutes to call the family in the uk but you lot recently blagged my missus on to a post paid sim contract for the same $30 a month and she lost her free int minutes. I'm not interested in being similarly blagged. I can tell this is going to cost me and assuming it does, there's a fair chance I'll just walking away from you lot, getting a Vodafone sim (with stupidly cheaper roaming rates) and just watching Spurs games on delay through the new foxtel channels.

I realise this mail is a bit all over the place but I'm fairly disappointed and want guidance about my options on watching the epl, preferably not through streaming on the ridiculous crud Australian internet network.

@Optus Is the epl channel going to be accessible on fetch tv via the epg like the entertainment channels or is it going to be via a seperate app? Ta

Hi @Rosscoe - sorry to hear you're disappointed with our options. We do have limited information about satellite at the moment but all the information available right now can be found @ http://yesopt.us/epl. Satellite would be the only option where internet streaming is not used to watch the content.

@thekayle - the games will be on dedicated channels however there will be an app to watch on demand and extra content.

Hi Guy's

Can you please confirm that the EPL will be shown through Apple TV?

I have been told yes by Optus staff and read news reports confirming it will be available, but was in an Optus store yesterday and was told it would definitely not be available to watch on a TV on any other device apart from Fetch.

Could you please clear this up as I would really like to get organised and know which devices I am going to be able to use

Thanks

It was also mentioned earlier in another thread by an Optus moderator that you would be able to use your mobile phone data (unmetered) and then stream via AirPlay to an Apple TV. This is good for people who only have a mobile plan and not broadband with Optus as it allows big screen viewing rather than just watching on your mobile.

Painetrain
by Occasional Contributor Painetrain
‎2016-06-13 12:31 PM

@Jamesk811 Apple TV 4th gen has wifi, so you be best tethering the Apple TV from the phones hotspot. Probably be a more reliable connection than AirPlay. Plus you could sit your phone near a window or whatever to ensure the best reception. Tower>Phone(wifi)>Apple TV. If anyone had a couple bars of 4G reception, the speed is going to be better than any broadband connection.

No official word yet, but.......

The app for the Apple TV will only be for new (starting price $234 model). Apple will not put an app on the older models because then there is no incentive to buy the new Apple TV. If you have the gen 3 ATV, look what apps you have compard to the new model. You dont even get all the free to air catch up channels/apps.
