Update Thursday 29 September

Due to major storms across South Australia, some Optus customers may experience voice or data service difficulties as a result of damage or loss of power to mobile phone base stations and infrastructure.

 

Optus engineers continue to closely monitor the network to minimise the impact on our customers. Optus is progressively restoring services as power is being restored across the state. We are working closely with the relevant authorities to restore services as a priority. Where possible, we are attempting to deploy back-up generators in response to power outages.

 

Due to major power failures there is currently no Optus mobile service in Port Lincoln, Port Pirie and the majority of areas across the Eyre Peninsula.

 

Fixed voice and broadband services have largely been restored across South Australia. Optus NBN services are not affected.

 

Wednesday 28 September

Due to major storms across South Australia, some Optus customers may experience voice or data service difficulties as a result of damage or loss of power to mobile phone base stations and infrastructure.

 

Optus mobile phone towers have back-up power sources, however these generators will only provide services for a limited period of time.

 

Optus will prioritise replacement generators where it is safe to do so to restore services where there has been an outage.

 

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their understanding.

Do we have an estimated time on when the phone service will be back? We have had power on here since 7pm Thursday and are still with out phone service.

@Jessdeer, can see that our engineers are working to restore services to that area as quickly as possible. There's no ETA at this stage sorry however you can check for updates here here

I've checked the mobile network and can see our engineers are still working on this. Although we have no ETR at this stage, we're treating all matters with a high sense of urgency. Thanks for your continued patience whilst we repair and restore services.

I am in Whyalla Norrie, 5608 SA....can make calls on my mobile but would love to have my Internet back....I have plenty of data....how much longer will it be?

rosebay - 2 of the towers in the area have come online very recently. With a bit of luck, the tower in Whyalla Stuart will be back online soon also. Apologies for the delay 😞
