Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge – Error after updating to 7.0

Optus

Our software updates team have identified an issue with the latest software update (7.0 Nougat) for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets. Some customers are receiving the error message “IMS Service has Stopped” intermittently after installing the update.

Our engineers are working closely with Samsung to rectify the situation and in the meantime, Samsung have suspended the software update so no further handsets will be affected.

For those who are affected, you can resolve the issue by switching Voice over LTE (VoLTE) on which provides additional benefits including faster call connection times compared to 3G, and be able to talk and browse at the same time using 4G. For more information on VoLTE and instructions on how to switch it on, please refer to optus.com.au/volte-support

Hi

I'm a bit confused, does Nougat upgrade on Galaxy S7/S7Edge has been resumed since IMS issue discovered back on 24th Feb.  I still haven't receive any update notification on my S7Edge.   Could Optus update the status please

Hey @shh, the update is yet to be resumed since the critical error from 24/2. Once it resumes we update it here → https://yescrowd.optus.com.au/t5/Blog/Android-Software-Updates-16-02-2017/ba-p/198463.

Hi, Since updating to Nougat several weeks ago my phone suddenly lost service. I tried resetting network settings and even a factory reset to no avail. Finally worked out that in  Settings>connections>mobile networks>network operators>search networks   after a while the yes optus network appeared and I clicked on it to register it.Then all was well  except it has lost service a couple of times since requiring me to repeat the registration process. Anyone else had this problem? I am not aware of any upate/fix.

Hey Wallygator - I've had no issues with my own S7 Edge. Have you backed up your data and hard reset the device again?

I  should have stated mine is a Galaxy S7 bought on ebay from Hong Kong. No I havent done another reset as this was an arduous process especially when the startup screen was all in chinese. I somehow managed to click a link giving me language options,I then had to reactivate all my apps and settings the way I like them despite having backed up to the cloud. Basically it has only needed reregistering a couple of times since so its not too big a deal.At least I know how to get  service back when it happens.  Has there been an update to the original 7.0 ver released?
