@DayBlossom I ordered on 31st got temp number. The official order number email came super later but has a date on the tracking thing they got it 4th April.

It's because they're included in your plan so Optus activate it automatically for you. It's in no way detrimental to you so they do it so you don't miss out in case you actually use spotify or netflix etc and don't realise you need to activate prior to make it unmetered.

But I don't have the phone yet and my card is still in my old phone.

So.... The new plan shouldn't come into play till I activate the new phone.

I rang thanks. As my phone is due to be delivered tomorrow she said, and as I am using the same number (sim) they activated my new plan today lunchtime. All good sort of sync's with dates of my last plan.

How come my order hasn't been updated?  I preordered on the 31st...sure my ordee number says 07/04/2017 but it be nice to know if I need to be home tomorrow to receive it...

Hey @DayBlossom, all pre-orders will be dispatched on a first in - first out basis, as we work off a queue based dispatch system. So, based on where your order is in the queue - you will see an update online as soon as it's ready to be dispatched.

I got a trxt saying my upgrade was successful with another order number with digits and letters. Doesn't work in tracking but my order number given other day is still the same no different...

Hey @DayBlossom, does the order number start with a 'T'? If so, this is a temporary order number which may mean we require more information to proceed. If this is the case, I'd recommend giving our Sales Support team a call on 1300300562 Mon - Fri: 8:00am - 7.00pm EST.

No i had a temporary order number on 31st of March then received an official order number on 07/04/2017 then received a text 12am: 

 

Optus Msg: Hi, the order to upgrade your Optus service xxxxxxxxxx has been successful. Order ALWSTBM001. If you didn't authorise upgrade, call 1300369118 asap.

 

I took my phone number out of the text and put x's instead for on here. I would like an update when I will receive my phone. I'm not at my house as of Wednesday next week as my mum will be in hospital.

I think it's pretty poor when you take the time to pre order the Galaxy S8 plus three weeks in advance... arrange to be home for delivery, only to have star track not even bother to try to deliver it to me. It went straight to Australia Post... guess I'll get it Monday or whenever Aus Post decide to deliver it.

 

Takes the shine off it for sure.

star track tracking says on board with driver for delivery at 10.44am and then delivered at 10.59am, direct to the post office.  We are 20 mins out of the city... I had to find Aus Post tracking to see where it was delivered, and it's a transfer office where you can't pick it up!

 

This has happened before I'm afraid, hubby and I have been with Optus for years, and new phone delivery has never been smooth or fast since we moved to Hobart.  However, I never pre ordered a new phone before so although it was disappointing, it wasn't as annoying as this Smiley Mad

 

For the record, when we lived in Melbourne it was great, just not since we moved to Hobart.

I did preorder on 1st april at Optus store and expected that my samsung will come on 21st. But what happened was the Optus member, they told me to come on the next day because of several reasons that their products ain't ready yet. so i came on 22nd and ask for my samsung, and the member told me there are currently only 3 samsung and your name is not in it and try to come again on monday for the next shipment. I went really mad in fact that their services are super really sucks and have no loyalty on the customer. Now is 23rd, and i wish my samsung will be coming tommorow, otherwise, i might cancel out my order.

Hi @CHIP11, the pre-orders are send out in large volumes so sorry yours is not available yet at the store. They were to be delivered from 21st  and are sent out in order of receipt. The Store will call you when they get the batch with your order attached. Sorry for any invconvenience.

I am sorry but this has been less than alright for me. I have never pre-ordered before and may never again.

 

Star Trak are hopeless! I got a message from Optus saying my phone was in transit at midday on Thursday. Optus then decided to activate my new contract, without me having the phone, and put through activation of music and tv free data. I got sms messages for that so I was confused and rang them, they said my phone would be delivered tomorrow so they were doing it then. Well......my phone progressed to Sydney DFPC at 7.22pm Thursday night.

 

It has been there ever since. I live 9 hrs north of Sydney (yet 2 hrs south of Brisbane), which means they send it to their Star Track depot in Lismore, then to me. Another 1.5 hrs from Lismore. Are you kidding me? I ordered at midnight on the 31st with a temp number and an official email on the 4th April. How the heck would I be left out and not even getting it MONDAY like I thought being classed regional. Yet, Optus activate my new contract Thursday arvo?

 

I am pretty disappointed as Tuesday is a holiday and Wednesday I won't be here as my Hubby has to be at Hospital up the coast in the morning. So unless they haven't updated it in their tracking/scanning, then they didn't send it up north on a totally different truck to deliveries than the courier people. What a disaster. Telstra's modem with the same company came to me within 2 days.

I would like an update,  because I officially preordered on 31st of March but my official order number was 7th of April.  I desperately need the preordered phone soon since my current Sony will be going to my partner who needs a phone since his is broken. Since job agency and his own photography company.

I received my new phone and vr set this morning. Bren busy transferring (easy with Samsung Switch) and making it like mine. The Star track table changed this morning when it was logged as on board for delivery at 8 am. Before that it said still in Sydney, Thursday 7.22pm. So no one scanned or updated it. Love my new phone. A bit of getting used to from my years of HTC

Im STILL waiting for my S8? Apparently they (optus) dont have stock in their warehouse, at least thats what my tracking says? I preordered at the very begining of the promotion but I hear people from other carriers and a select few of optus customers have had theirs a while....... maybe wollworths would hsve been a better choice... fastwr and chesper too....

 

Not impressed by optus's service after many years a customer....

I have been a customer for 10 years. And been waiting on mine too. I'm not happy. Might contact Ombudsman soon if I don't get anything this week. Preordered on 31st of March. Worst service ever!

So.  Finally got my S8+ and my VR Gear all at once, so pretty happy now. Both are amazing and worth the frustrating pre order system and annoying wait.

 

Having said that, supplies definitely seem more than inadequate for the hype and resulting preorders.. 

 

Although i was ticked off with Optus, star track and everyone in between, this is still better service than i ever received from Telstra

Mmmm. My pre order was sent to my old address that ive not resided in since 2011. Despite my current bills and new contract stating my current address, somehow Optus have ballsed it up and Im still waiting.  Optus have activated my new contract despite the fact that I dont have the phone and probably wont for awhile considering it was delivered to Vic instead of WA. The amount of time I have wasted trying to sort it out, to say Im a little pissed about this is an understatement. How on earth does an old address get dredged up from 2011. Everything in my contact details is current.

Received my phone on Friday 21st.. Nice that I got it early but disappointing there was no notification at all or ETA. I was lucky I was off from work sick that day so was home when it was delivered. Anyway, proceeded to set up my phone and when I made my very first phone call, found that the microphone doesn't work! 5 days, 3 shop visits and 4 phone calls later and I am still stuck with a rubbish phone which I can't use properly. Optus has an abundance of sales support, but sadly  that's as far as it goes. I even called tech support, the guy palmed me off to sales without even asking me what the problem was. I will be contacting the ACL to deal with this moving forward, would appreciate if someone could at least tell me how to return this crap, claim expenses and cancel my new contract?

I was told last night if nothing changes today to message today to get them to follow it up. But everyone is just saying being sent in bulks and not bothering to follow up. I am inches away in leaving Optus and reporting them to Ombudsman. 

 

It is stupid if people in store get to get one Friday on release date when the ones that have preordered don't receive theirs and have been waiting longer! What was the point of preordering this!

I was doing a live chat with Optus yesterday which was Anzac day and was told that the phone should arrive on Friday if not next week which will be passed launch date and it's still pending to be shipped out. I had the same tracking issue where my note 7 was delivered even before the notification SMS. Can any moderators kindly help and check for me? Like what @DayBlossom mentioned, why do we even preorder if we might receive the phone later? 

 

I do appreciate the fact that the preorder comes with the VR gear but most of us just want the phone first. 

 

Please help.

@DayBlossom Yep, likewise. I recieved an SMS to check the status only to find out it hadn't changed anyway.

My main disappointment - As you pointed out; I could have just gone in store and picked one up at this rate.

 

A few of my colleagues pre-ordered the S8+ and S8 with Telstra; their's arrived on Friday and Monday.

I also just realised, Telstra give you 12GB for $95. That serves me right for assuming Optus had the better deal.

 

@Optus Happy to pay $1 more a month for 2GB - how about it?

I am still waiting.... been waiting for my unit to get to optus warehouse since 21st.... they say they will send me a txt when it dur for delivery ..... waited... waited...todsy i eventually recieved a txt and i thought .. beauty.. its on the way... but no... just a text saying its still on progress...

 

 

Just past a telstra store and there they are..on display.... even woolworths...

Hmm, seems like I received the same sms as others today.

"Hi, wer'e getting in touch......" seems it has progressed but still saying it is not at warehouse.

Well I just spoke to a Riddik and was told that no stock and more stock coming next week hopefully.  Ordered on the 21st and have the waiting for your item to arrive at warehouse message in tracking.

This is just really ridiculous...I preordered on the 31st of March thinking I will get it before official release date. I will be contacting Ombudsman today about this. This is ruining my partner's business and could lose hus disability pension because he has no phone until I give him my Sony after I get my preorder.

So an update, I go to work then check again to see if it is at warehouse but it had changed to "Your order is on the road..."

Thinking it might be tomorrow when I get it but all of a sudden it was in Adelaide and heading to my place. (It was coming from Sydney)

Being I was not home and unable to sign with ID (others were home) I have just picked it up from Post Office.

Bit confused with the delay in tracking but then again it is StarTrack...

Great to hear that you've received your phone 🙂 Apologise for not getting the heads up, the wrong notification was sent to you previously which closed of any further notifications about the order. Once you signed off receiving the order, it would have sent notification back to Optus to change the plans. Your MyOptus Account could take up until 24 hours for this to update though. After 24 hours, if it hasn't updated just yet. Please send us a screenshot via the PM you have with me and I'll look into it for you.
