I have strange icons and messages appearing on my laptop every day, with the message "Optus Mobile Broadband Updater Installing Updates - Component Optus_C74_MAC_21.158.47.00.74 Status Installing Installation Progress 1/1 0%"
I have screen shots.  My mobile broadband is Huawei E5251.

Last week I called Tech support and had an hour on the phone with a support person in the Phillipines, who connected remotely to my computer and said he would work it out.  But he never got back to me.  He had access to my computer but I don't know what he accessed. Last night I called again and got another person in the Phillipines, who also offered to connect remotely - I refused to do it again.  This morning a third person in the Phillipines could not find any record of these calls.  Finally the first techie called me and said not to worry because my Huawei is old and has to be updated every time I connect! Really.

Anyway, yesterday I updated the software through the connection manager.  I found this myself before I read this article.  I have checked today and the software is up to date according to the connection manager.

Nevertheless there were 10 update icons jumping around in the dock this morning.  I don't know what they are doing or why.  I can only get rid of them with Force Quit.  Sounds like the techie did not know what he was talking about.  He told me not to worry, but I am worried.  PLEASE ADVISE ME.

It might be the case that there is a bug in the software 😞 Has it been resolved as yet?

It has not been resolved.  I am still getting these icons and it is still updating something as far as I can see.  I am going to post this on Optus Facebook page, that usually gets results.

I have optus broadband with a dongle for my laptop.  Last night, the standard optus start up page said there was a software update, and I should log in to download the update.  I had an option to cancel, which only reloaded the page.  When I tired to log in, my log in name and password were rejected.  I couldn't open any other webpage, so my internet was effectively shut down. I did an online chat with optus on my mobile, and the representative changed my account name and password.  That didn't work.  I was transferred to Technical Support, which told me that the user name and password for the update were "admin."  That worked.  The rep said that I should know this! When I asked how I was supposed to know that, she said, "It's on your device."  What is that supposed to mean?  Of course, I then had to change the password on my account to get back to my original password, since the original rep didn't know that admin is the user name/password. This took an hour.

People, I've had internet service plans in the US, France and Australia.  Optus is by far the most incompetent service I've had to deal with.  Another example:  I suspended broadband service for two months when I was out of Australia.  Optus agreed on the suspension dates.  Then Optus cut off my service three days early, and on top of that billed me for a month when the service was suspended.  But not to worry, it only took me two calls, i.e. two hours, to resolve this issue.  I will miss many things in Australia when I leave, but Optus is not one of them.

Hi, I have the Huawei E5573 which tells me there are available updates to download each time I connect it to my computer. However, when I click the download button I just get the response "This 192.168.8.1 page can’t be found". If I go to manually check for updates it says that I am already up to date. Currently using version 21.200.11.02.74 can someone tell me if this is the most up to date? Thanks
