Nexus 6P views

The Huawei-made handset is finally here and it comes with the new Android operating system (OS) Marshmallow and has been purpose-built to maximise Android OS capability and features. The handset is elegantly designed and has some great features under the hood including a powerful battery, octa-core processor, fingerprint sensor and the best Nexus camera yet.

Nexus handsets are known for bringing you the pure Android experience. The new Nexus 6P doesn’t disappoint. It’s the only handset running pure Android 6.0 Marshmallow and offers the customisable experience Android fans demand.

More about the features

For the first time, Android has incorporated a fingerprint sensor called Nexus Imprint making the Nexus 6P extra secure and compatible with apps and online stores that already use fingerprint scanning technology.

The improved Nexus camera lets in more light through its impressive f/2.0 aperture and 1.55μm pixels, taking exceptional photos even in low light.

And the 3450 mAh battery means the handset holds power for longer.

Pre-order your Nexus 6P online now.

We’re offering a special pre-order price*: $0 upfront on a $60 My Plan Plus (Min. total cost over 24 months is $1,440).

What storage and colour options are available because it would be depressing if you are only stocking the 32G variant

@lh95 Shark74 has sorted your question but we're not selling the handset outright at this stage

@DarrynP We're only stocking the 32GB variant in Aluminium atm but damn it looks good!

@danz207 Always good when we can surpirse you Smiley Wink Could be time for an early upgrade though? If you're interested an easy way to check the costs is to SMS 5 to 9999 although I'm sure you're already across that Smiley Wink

@MiCCAS I'm sure if there was an option to camp out for it you'd be first in line Smiley Tongue

@shark74 Always appreciate your help Smiley Happy

Hi

I was just wondering if Optus are still crediting up to $450 of early termination fees when customers port from another carrier? I've got just over 2 months to go on my plan at Vodafone and would like to get the 6P at the special price of $60 per month. Termination fees are around $170.

Does Optus modify this phone in any way? Will I get updates directly from Google the same as Nexus phones bought outright?

Forums Community Manager

@Tirpitz Best to chat with our billing team here - http://yesopt.us/chat2us so they can see your account and check out what's going on. Depending on your situation, I dare say there's some pro rata involved

@Bobbyalex Double checking this for you. I believe we'll still test the update however I don't believe the manufacturer would be involved which would still significantly reduce the time it takes to receive an update. From my understanding as it's pure Android it doesn't need to be adjusted for the handset itself

Forums Community Manager

@Bobbyalex I just received confirmation. Google have requested that we (the carrier) confirm all OS updates function without issue on our network prior to them being distributed to the end user

@MattJ This kind of defeats the whole purpose of owning a Nexus device! What is the guarantee that Optus will support updates after 2 years when Google will still be pushing out updates? Also, how long will users have to wait for the updates to be available? I think I will cancel my order. The customer rep I chatted with told me that the device will get all the updates that Google sends. This now seems unlikely.

Forums Community Manager

Google has made this decision in conjunction with carriers in an attempt to ensure the best experience possible for Nexus users @Bobbyalex. Our testing is relatively quick but if you'd like more information we've posted about it here. As long as we keep receiving updates, we'll keep testing and approving them. So you'll get the updates that are sent for the handset, they'll just be tested first to make sure there's no unexpected issues from a network perspective.

Anyone seeing their 6P as "shipped" yet?

anyone ordered this phone with a confrimation email said you have to pay $31 handset repayment? however, it was $0 repayment for device booked during pre order stage. so confused.

@tsbeer You should see a credit below this for $31 which will cancel out the $31 handset repayment. The $31 handset repayment is there if you cancel early they will calculate you payout figure based on this. Check to make sure your credit is $31 and not $26 in my case and that they haven't charged you a delivery fee. Talked to support and they said that was a common error with people's 6p orders

Anyone got the text message saying the devices leaving the warehouse yet? Its still showing up for me that they have not arrived at the warehouse yet. Hoping to get my device by Friday but I dont think so unless it is sent out today. Also just woundering does anyone know where the warehouse is located?

@Naes755 my order is saying the same as yours, pretty frustrating. I think they are having trouble with stock, it says "out of stock" on the website. I pre ordered mine on the 29/10. People ordering from google play are experiencing delays too. It is supposed to be "next day delivery" to metro areas so you would of thought they have a warehouse in each capital city. Or if it's one central warehouse they are using air freight

Hey,

I'm chasing feedback on how this new Nexus compares to the a s7 edge?

Reason is Ive been running samsung galaxy's since the s1 to my Current s5 and they have been good to me but before i go and just order the s7 i want to know if there is something better or as good on the market as an alternative but given that I've never held a nexus of any sort little own used one so all i know is whats mentioned on the spec and feature page.
